Recycle Cart

The 95 gallon recycle cart is available for lease to all current, residential Sanitation customers (Commercial customers click here).The lease fee is only $1 (one dollar) per month. This fee is added to the water bill.  The cart is property of the City of Longview Sanitation Division and should be treated accordingly.

Residents who rent must have the property manager or whomever pays the water bill call and authorize.

Recyclable Items

Plastics (milk jugs, water and soda bottles, clear plastics, and #1 & #2 colored plastics**)
Rinse and drain
Remove all liquid
Crush to conserve space
Labels do not need to be removed
Plastic containers that have contained motor oil or other hazardous materials will not be accepted
**To see if a plastic is #1 or #2, look for the recycling symbol on the plastic item. Inside the symbol will be a number such as 1, 2, 5, etc. The City of Longview can only accept #1 and #2 plastics.

Aluminum/Tin/Steel (beverage and food cans)
Wash and drain
Crush to conserve space
Paper labels don't need to be removed

Paper (newspapers, magazines and cardboard)
Color and glossy print can be recycled
Glass cannot be recycled at this time

Recycling Tips

• All containers should be rinsed
• Labels do not need to be removed
• Recyclables will be collected every Wednesday. Holiday collection may vary, see collection schedule.
• Recyclables should be in recycling bin and placed curbside no later than 7:30 a.m. on day of collection.

Buy Recycled

You "close the loop" when you buy items or packaging made from recycled materials. They have now come full circle: from recycling bin to the manufacturer, to the store shelf and back to your home. After using items, you can start the loop again. The value of recyclable items is based on demand. By purchasing items containing recycled products, you increase the demand for these products.
